Documentary/Filmmaking

Film Haven specializes in documentary filmmaking for non-profits, government agencies, environmental institutions and/or someone with a story. We take a collaborative and consultative approach to producing these films, working closely with our clients to understand their goals and messaging needs. Our team of experienced producers, writers, and directors then work together to craft a compelling and informative documentary that highlights our clients' important work and mission. Finally, we provide guidance on distribution and promotion to ensure that our clients' message reaches the widest possible audience.

How does it work?

1.

First, we get your idea pre-qualified by scheduling a preliminary meeting at no cost to you or your organization. We will ask you a series of questions like:

2.

What is the purpose, goal and/or message of your documentary?

Do you have a treatment or outline started?

Who is your target and known audience?

What length and format do you want in the final product?

Do you want reenactments or specific b-roll?

Are you self-funded or do you have funding?

Is there a budget?

Do we need to apply for funding, obtain grants, acquire investors or sponsors?

Is there a specific date you’d like to get started and finished (final product)

Do you need a professional voice over/narration?

Do you need special Graphics/Motion GFX?

Are you planning on disseminating this throughout the film festival circuit?

Do you need help getting the film sold or viewed on TV/Streaming Platforms?

Do you need help with marketing or any other social media services?

Any other questions you or your team may have.

3.

Next, we design a proposal for you and/or your organization. Among many important aspects, the proposal will outline an estimated investment for your project, a rough sketch of the overall structure of your project and all the responsibilities that Film Haven will take on.

4.

Lastly, if you’re pleased with our proposal, a Film Haven Producer will be assigned to you and your organization. They will handle scheduling meetings, production days, gathering a crew and everything that pushes your project in the right direction. At this point, we would ask for a pre-production fee for our producer to get started. All payments will be outlined in an agreement that both parties will agree to before taking the next pre-production steps.
